Hinata opened its door to San Francisco sushi lovers in December, 2016. Headed by triad of young talented chefs and staff, it strives for quality and value Omakase experience. The chefs behind the counter have worked and trained at renowned sushi spots in San Francisco such as Roka Akor and Sushi Ran. Hinata's omakase menu changes regularly, and starts at only $78/pp, but you can add special supplement sets or a la carte pieces to fancy up the meal. I've been here couple times and each time felt like it's a good deal for the price. I also enjoy the more relaxed vibe and the chefs are always ready to engage in interesting conversations. The food might lack a little in exquisiteness compared to higher end omakase joints that'll cost you $200+/pp, but you def get what you pay for here (in a positive way). If you opt for any a la cartes, don't forget their wagyu nigiri with generous truffle shavings!
Robin, a new omakase venture in San Francisco headed by Adam Tortosa (1760, LA's Ink). With omakase starting at $79/pp, Robin brings a new twist to the traditional omakase scene with a modern interior, lively music, hipster vibe, and focus on fishes sourced from local California waters (and of course some from tsukiji and rest of the world as well). Come here with an open mind, this will not be your typical omakase meal!
