Another "simple" dish
Spaghetti with tomato sauce. The sauce consisting only of tomatoes and a touch of salt. The first picture doesn't show anything out of the ordinary, but Kurusu-san instructed us to mix it up before tasting. In the second picture you can see the sauce underneath was green. This comes from the stem of the tomato or more specifically the leaves where the stem meets the fruit itself. Most people will cut around this and throw it in the compost without a second thought. However the most intense fresh tomato flavour was extracted from this and was another surprise for me. Well worth the price of admission.
