Day 9 of my 365 Mandala Blanket.
So far so good. I'm not really following a particular pattern. Just sort of using whatever color I want and going around in a double crochet circle.
Anywho, it's getting late (it's literally almost 1am). Sleep well my loves.
World peace starts at with me. Friday 2 February is Groundhog Day. Great opportunity to revisit a classic movie and also consider how we can shift our own thoughts, perspectives and actions, from ego centred to family, culture, world and beyond. Because of course it’s not really the Groundhog who decides if it’s six more weeks (months/years) of (same old) winter - it’s ME #365mandalas#mandalarevolution#childsplay#woodenblocks#flags
“Fuck you” and “thank you” both give us wings and a warm soft nest. The trick is working out who and when to apply them. Good luck with that. But I’ll give you a hint - fuck you is best applied to your inner saboteur. All of us have one - and are likely to project him/her onto those closest to us. So if you allow yourself permission to notice and feel that “fuck you” toward your partner say, go with it, but know it belongs to something inside yourself. It’s a powerful tool, correctly applied, to move you forward. Your partner really just wants to love you as best they know how and as much as you will let them. It’s complicated.... But that’s another story. I’m working on this too. No birds were harmed in the creation of this mandala. I discovered an extraordinary number of feathers on the ground as I walked today reflecting on the virtues of fuck/thank you. #365mandalas#childsplay#feathers#mandalarevolution
Inspired by fairy doors - opening the door to magic in our lives. Magic is anything that science = knowledge = reason = linearity can’t explain. I love the circularity of mandalas. Eventually I’ll do some proper research I suppose but for now I know that the creating of them is part of an opening to possibilities that were previously obscured from my mind. We can only see what we are ready to - someone (Danielle LaPorte?) said that to see a miracle, you have to be close to a miracle yourself. This image can be seen as a simplistic and childish arrangement of simplistic and childish things. Useless. Or as I see it, a portal to magic and unknown possibilities. Coming back to the very cutesy fairy doors I discovered in a boutique toy shop yesterday (now that my boys are mostly (nearly) teenagers I have no excuse for perusing toy shops except that I love toys for me). I loved them because they are an invitation to magic. But at the same time they are very manufactured perfect London type doors, which might be inclined to produce magic of a similar nature. The magic I want in my life is handmade, personal and local (and simple and childlike), so I am creating my own magic portals daily in the form of mandalas. If you could use more custom magic in your life, you are so invited to join the fun. #mandalarevolution#365mandalas#mandalamagic#childsplay#simplepleasures#ephemeralart#godseye
