More than half of the population – 6.2 million people – are urgently in need of humanitarian assistance. The situation for children is extremely serious; 363, 000 children are acutely malnourished and in need of critical nutritional support. Lack of access to basic health services means that 1.9 million people may die of preventable diseases this year. Maternal mortality rates are already amongst the highest in the world.
Somalia is in the grip of an intense drought. In the worst affected areas, lack of water has wiped out crops and killed livestock. Communities are being forced to sell their assets and borrow food and money to survive.
Help Albaseerah raise as much funds as possible to provide urgent humanitarian aid to children and families affected by the famine in Somalia.
100% of the donations received will be utilised through known trustworthy locals, who will use your donation to deliver food, water and other essentials to those in most need.

"I don’t know how my children will survive." In #Somalia today, over 6 million people are facing the threat of #famine. These families wait to transport their food parcels after an joint #ICRC and Somali Red Crescent aid distribution in drought-affected areas of the country. We are doing everything we can, but as #drought and conflict continue, the situation is deteriorating. To support our work, click the link in profile. Pedram Yazdi/@ICRC_somalia#RedCross#RedCrescent
