Committing to anything, especially better self-care, requires a kinda special set of balls.
It's easy to give into excuses and make up reasons that continue to let me indulge in bad habits, be impulsive and generally evade taking responsibility for my own well-being.
And when these balls are as damn delicious n easy to make as the yummy protein Ferrero Rocher balls by @tastefullytash, suddenly being nice to myself is not as hard.
S e l f L o v e
One of the most crucial things I’ve learned on my wellness journey is to have self-love. You know that I love to use natural beauty products and eat vegan healthy food, but in the past year I’ve gone beyond just putting healthy products on and in my body, and started nurturing my mental wellbeing. Of course, I eat healthy and use natural products as a form of self care too, but self love goes beyond that. It goes beyond simple self care for health and disease prevention. It goes into nourishing the spiritual and emotional.
This process takes w o r k. But it is the way to live a f u l f i l l e d l i f e. The best and most rewarding things in life aren’t always easy am I right?!
It is no longer acceptable to self-criticise. It is no longer necessary to expect anyone to love me properly.
Some of the things I’m committed to:
Be the person who gives myself the love and efforts I want.
No longer accept self-judgement but accept my mistakes, flaws and emotions with compassion.
Work towards the life I really want and know I deserve and am capable of it.
Regularly do the activities that ground me (go out in nature, have a relaxing bath, etc).
Believing in myself and my process.
Giving myself the space and time to heal and have balance in my life.
Being mindful of where my energy goes, because it’s limited and valuable.
Recognise how I want to be treated by others.
Not see how someone else treats me as a sign of my worth.
Notice and accept any suffering.
Not listen to “I’m not good enough” or “I can’t achieve what I want” thoughts.
Keep learning about and improving myself (I see a psychologist/ life coach/ therapist once a month who helps me identify my values, how to manage unhelpful thoughts/ anxieties and how to go for what I want).
