I’ve seen heaps of people prepare for the 2018 school year, which I respect so much - I was just getting through the day sometimes!
However, bare in mind that it’s not a competition! - You *DON’T* have to go to your classroom everyday - it will be there when you get back. - You *DON’T* have to buy heaps of resources that suit the latest trends - buy what you need and don’t buy all at once. - You *DON’T* have to print / laminate / bind all of your resources - they will be there when you get back.
So thank you for your ideas; I’ll be keeping them on file; however, I’m *NOT* really going to touch my school resources / classroom until the new year.
It’s that time of year again and this year I’m blessed to attend FOUR separate graduation ceremonies! Tonight as I listened to the beautiful words spoken by this bunch of Grade Six students, I was reminded of the incredible honour it is to be a Teacher. We work so gosh-darn hard and even though at times we may forget to see the light, please know that our presence has such a positive impact upon our students. Treasure this knowledge and keep being the amazing teachers you are! xx #primaryschool#graduation#theendofanera#happytears#sospecial#mosthonourable#profession#morethanajob

End of year presents!
I felt as though this year I tried to make a good effort to give presents that were more meaningful and less .. My class were 1/2s so our classroom theme was 'Thing 1s & 2s' - so naturally I gave them a Dr Seuss book for Christmas! I also gave them a 50c bubble wand (Kmart is the best!) because they have 'blown me away' this year! And the most treasured pressie was the free selfie I took with each student! Goes to show, it's not what you spend, it's the thought behind it!
What do you give your class as an end of year gift?
My vacation care service recently invested in this marble track construction set and it has been a hit to the point that, like we do for the use of the iPad, we need to write a waiting list and use a timer giving each group of children 10 minutes at a time to prevent brawls over the good pieces this would be such an awesome addition to an early years classroom - or even upper primary really! Great task that encourages children to be creative and use problem solving skills while being 100% play based. For older kids you could set specific challenges to keep it interesting! The kids love for this set makes me love it too
