This massive and fabulous #Banyan tree is situated on the center of the Millenium Hilton hotel and for me is one is the most attractive, meaningful and spiritual places at the hotel. I asked questions to #Thaipeople about why they “wrap” it with colorful fabric strips and they told me that the most popular thing connected to spirit world in Thai is #SpiritHouse . Thai people put them in front of every house, building, and so on. Also they “wrap” the trees with colorful strips that’s what they call Spirit Houses too! In other words Thai people believe that spirits live in these Spirit Trees. It’s said that trees with spirits are usually old and big.
So, Thai people mark trees with spirits by colorful fabric stripes, make offerings in the roots or lower branches (drinks and flowers) in hopes of having a wish granted, or a prayer answered and to keep spirits in a nice and peaceful mood.
Swipe to the left to see an interesting video and photos with details, and what you see on the left of the tree is the spirit house that Thai people put on the front of their home or business.
