Oni (@booksandcoffeestains)

For today's weekly
#booksandhotdrinkstuesday tradition the lovely @katha_logisch asks:
Which kind of tea/coffee do you enjoy and how do you like your tea/coffee?
Though I have my preferences, honestly, the first description that comes to my mind for both tea and coffee is: black, strong and in huge quantities. Barbaric me. As much as I am fascinated by the Japanese Tea Ceremony and the many lovely references to tea in Russian, Asian and English literature, my own habits are rather straightforward. I wish I'd had some delicious recipes to share or other practical wisdom to impart, but no. Alas! it's not the case.
.
When I think about tea, I somehow end up inevitably thinking about Jane Austen, even though her novels do not contain an abundance of references to tea. Tea is mentioned briefly, without truly lingering on the ceremonial part connected to it, which is understandable given that the habits formed around tea drinking were not as widely adopted at the end of the 18th century, as they were to become later during the 19th century. However, Jane Austen was an avid tea lover and she seems to have known well that ... it is a truth universally acknowledged, that a bookish girl in possession of a good mug, must be in want of a good tea.😊 At Chawton Cottage, where she lived the last eight years of her life, Jane Austen was in charge of the tea chest and sugar supply and she was the one preparing tea in the morning. She was also apparently the one responsible for buying tea for her entire family, which she carefully choose directly from Twinings.
.
Abundant in references to tea or not, Jane Austen's novels remain as comforting and refreshing as a strong, flavourful cup of tea.

.
#AanMansyur, penyair yg sedang tenar-tenarnya, yg telah berhasil membangkitkan kesukaan akan puisi di kalangan generasi milenial, pernah menerbitkan buku puisi #CintayangMarah, yg bertemakan #sejarah, bukan tentang #G30S melainkan revolusi 98. Namun kupikir keduanya tetap berkaitan.
Mari berjuang bersama.

The Last Leaf Library (@thelastleaflibrary)

Donated by @prideinpages
In The Namesake, Lahiri enriches the themes that made her collection an international bestseller: the immigrant experience, the clash of cultures, the conflicts of assimilation, and, most poignantly, the tangled ties between generations. Here again Lahiri displays her deft touch for the perfect detail -- the fleeting moment, the turn of phrase -- that opens whole worlds of emotion

The Namesake takes the Ganguli family from their tradition-bound life in Calcutta through their fraught transformation into Americans. On the heels of their arranged wedding, Ashoke and Ashima Ganguli settle together in Cambridge, Massachusetts. An engineer by training, Ashoke adapts far less warily than his wife, who resists all things American and pines for her family. When their son is born, the task of naming him betrays the vexed results of bringing old ways to the new world. Named for a Russian writer by his Indian parents in memory of a catastrophe years before, Gogol Ganguli knows only that he suffers the burden of his heritage as well as his odd, antic name. Lahiri brings great empathy to Gogol as he stumbles along the first-generation path, strewn with conflicting loyalties, comic detours, and wrenching love affairs. With penetrating insight, she reveals not only the defining power of the names and expectations bestowed upon us by our parents, but also the means by which we slowly, sometimes painfully, come to define ourselves

Today's #thereadersbooknook is all about the books that have scared us.
.
I've read this twice and like a fine cheese, it gets better with age! Both time I read this on my own, at night in a empty house.
I admit I'm a wimp at night if I'm the only person in the house. Every noise freaks me out and I leave the lights on for as long as possible so people can see the house is in use.. normal?
Anyway! Each time I've got to a scene with a certain boy and a window I suddenly fear of who is outside my window and I start to think god why don't I eat more garlic? Should I think about making a weapon to stake said floating vampire? I'm too young to die, maybe I can charm them into not completely draining me of blood and I can like help them and be queen of the vampires. I'm okay with having a nocturnal lifestyle soooo.
That's just the normal things I think when I read this book. NORMAL

I love Pub Days because there's so many good books coming out and I don't think my poor little soul can handle it. Happy Pub Day to BOOK OF JUDAS by Linda Stasi. For more info about this book, check out below:
.
When her infant son is placed in mortal danger, New York City reporter Alessandra Russo is forced to save him by tracking down the missing pages of the Gospel of Judas, a heretical manuscript that was unearthed in Al-Minya, Egypt, in the 1970s. The manuscript declares that Judas was the beloved, not the betrayer, of Jesus.
.
The Gospel disappeared for decades before being rediscovered, rotted beyond repair, in a safety deposit box. Rumors insist that the most important pages had been stolen―pages that Alessandra now must find, if they even exist.
.
Do the lost pages contain a secret that will challenge Christianity's core beliefs about the creation of life, or that might hold the power to unleash Armageddon? What if such explosive documents fell into the hands of modern-day terrorists, dictators, or religious fanatics?
.
Alessandra plunges into a dark world of murder, conspiracy, and sexual depravity...and most importantly, a race against the clock to save her own child.
.
I can't wait to start this one too! I know it'll be right after BEST DAY EVER. Yay!
