What causes Breast Implant Illness ? 🔍
__
A slow leakage (“bleeding”) of the silicone shell of the implants through a semi-permeable membrane envelope and also through the capsule ( tissue) that forms and surrounds the implants. These chemicals are then picked up by our immune system and is broken down inside our bodies cells. The big problem here is that, it was thought that this silicone shell is inert . It is not . It bleeds and poisons the body .
All of this adds up to slowly-developing chronic debilitating illness affecting every organ system of the body.
ALL implants are made of
silicone, just filled with different things. .
If you have breast implants and are symptomatic , look no further. This is a result of the long list of highly toxic carcinogenic objects in your chest wall. .

Repost By breast_implant_illness: Please help yourself and others. We have to report that breast implants made us sick. It's the way to make us heard @Regranned from @breastimplantvictimadvocacy - Ladies PLEASE remember that you need to do an online voluntary report if you have developed symptoms since augmentation or reconstruction with breast implants. If you haven't done it, please take a few minutes to fill it out. The FDA has to look at the cases reported. Sit down, take a few minutes, and report your symptoms. Pass this on to other women who need to know.

Post explant update:
Regrann from @whyworkshop - I don’t share too many personal things in this page. But I feel lucky and blessed to be able to share my story in hopes it helps at least one other women.
This picture was taken 5 years ago just as I was starting to get sick.
.
.
The last five years have been a blur. I have spent the entire time fighting for my health that unexpectedly changed with conditions developing out of the blue. My doctors could not explain nor improve. .
I felt trapped, lost, depressed, frustrated, sad and angry. I went from an extroverted, healthy creative individual to an introverted chronically ill person who couldn’t leave the house. .
It started with an autoimmune illness and progressed to heart conditions, swelling, fatigue, brain fog, memory loss, weight gain, hypertension & joint pain. My doctors diagnosed me with Crohns and we’re close to diagnosing me with Lupus or MS. I tried every elimination diet, exercise, meditation, holistic, self healing and medical testing available with no explanation. Last November my conditions exasperated and put me into the hospital and soon after one day in December fate stepped in and showed me a sign, a sign I wasn’t quite ready to accept but scared me into immediate action. a post about breast implant illness that had all of my symptoms listed in one place. .
.
It turns out that I had PIP implants which were recalled back in 2009, the manufacturers were using substandard materials and making women terminally ill. .
I am happy to say that I am a week out of surgery and have had them removed. 75% of my symptoms have began to disappear. The body is an amazing thing and after fighting heavy metals and toxins for 17 years it is starting to get a break. I share this on this page in hopes of helping any other women suffering With no explanation and despite many doctors not believing me, I continue to be my own best health advocate. .

MUST READ IF YOU HAVE IMPLANTS. YOU HAVE TO KNOW THE TRUTH SO YOU DON'T SUFFER LIKE SO MANY OF US HAVE. Regrann from @breast_implant_awareness - ~Breast Implant Illness has become an epidemic !
Women with breast implants who suffer with chronic health conditions, can lead to suicidal thoughts. Many have reported feelings of suicide or expressing a strong wish to die.
__
It is well known that chronic pain and illness have a high rate of depression and suicide .
Many women with Breast Implants are sick and don’t know why.
__
The medical community refuses to acknowledge BREAST IMPLANT ILLNESS , which has led women's hopelessness to soar.
__
Sadly, some have attempted and committed suicide for relief and unbearable physical and emotional pain.
A woman writes: "I've had implants for 14 years and only recently heard that they can be very detrimental to your health. I've had a serious decline in my mental & physical health over the years and my life is nothing it once was. I believe these implants certainly cause serious problems - maybe not right away, but in time I feel we are all affected ... some in very extreme ways. Suicidal thoughts are absolutely connected”
__
Breast Implant Illness may have serious effects on the mind causing depression, anxiety, OCD like behavior, suicidal thoughts, detachment from reality and more! We are never warned of the real dangers."

Repost @lovetobefitwithliz: This most likely will be the scariest, most vulnerable thing I’ve ever shared with you all, but it’s time.
The last 2.5 years have felt like a blur. I’ve spent every month, for the last 30+ months, fighting for my health that was suddenly, and unexpectedly, lost. Poof. Gone out of thin air.
.
Symptoms and conditions kept popping up, out of the blue, that my doctors could not explain and have thus far unsuccessfully been able to improve, even slightly.
.
I’ve felt trapped, lost, depressed, ashamed, frustrated, sad and angry. How could someone who so highly values their health - who watches everything they eat, exercises 6 days a week, meditates, does yoga - be so undeniably stuck?
I’ve tried every “diet”, every type of exercise, taken every supplement you can imagine, had more vials of blood taken than my body would allow, stopped working out, meditated, seen regular doctors, functional medicine doctors, and cried myself to sleep more nights than I can count.
.
Then one day, about 8 months ago, the Universe showed me a sign that I had been so desperate for, a sign I wasn’t quite ready to accept, and one that scared me, but made total sense at the same time.
MY. BREAST. IMPLANTS. ARE. MAKING. ME. SICK.
From hypothyroidism, a scary heart condition, SIBO, debilitating fatigue, brain fog, forgetfulness & memory issues, panic attacks, circulation problems, weight loss resistance.... there is NO explanation for any of these conditions, all of which started POST implant.
I believe with all of my heart that that these implants, these things I thought would be the magic cure for my self confidence issues, are poisoning me. The shell alone contains more that 40 toxic & hazardous chemicals.
.
12 Days from today, life will change again. I will be getting my Explant Surgery and taking my life, my health and my self acceptance into my own hands.
I share this all with the hopes of helping one other woman who is suffering, but doesn’t know why and to help myself overcome this hurdle & to find strength in being my best health advocate.
I don’t know what I’m going to look like, but I know how I’m going to feel. Relieved, proud, excited, strong, dete

Regrann from @saltysweetseasons - ⚠️ warning ⚠️ graphic content if you click the link in my bio...This photo + blog article are going 🥜 NUTS 🥜 in my story, so after 17283568 people encouraged me to grow a pair (see what I did there?) and post it — Can breast implants make you sick? Click the link in my bio to read the pros, cons + the itty, bitty, nitty gritty about saline, silicone & gel BOOBIES. Let’s chat about these little bags for a second. You might have gotten implants over 40 years ago, be fine and have never needed a replacement rack. Maybe you had surgery a month ago and out of nowhere had your body completely reject them. You may have been diagnosed with autoimmune diseases 6 years after you’ve had them. You may have mysterious illnesses + symptoms with “normal” lab work. You and your friends may all have silicone or saline implants and be totally fine, have no side effects & love your perky chests. You & your BFF may have both explanted because your silicone implants ruptured and her saline implants were full of mold and had a faulty valve, causing you both to become sick out of the blue. You may love the way your implants give you confidence and make your body “more proportional.” You may hate how your surgeon put bigger implants in than you wanted. You may be transitioning from a man’s body to a woman’s. You may have breastfed babies and want the girls to get a lift...whatever your story is, breast implants are a hot debate in a few online forums I’m in, so I wrote this article originally as a research paper + documentary segment. I gave it a facelift (pun intended talking about plastic surgery) and dug into the good, the bad, the pretty, and the ugly behind a #breastaug and decided to share it and what I found. PS - the FDA states that breast implants are NOT lifetime devices and should be replaced every 8-10 years; the longer they’re in, the higher chance you have of a rupture, whether they’re silicone or saline. Do both pose a risk? What is #breastimplantillness and is it really a “thing?” Seeing that it’s Valentine’s Day, let’s talk boobs, womanhood and these sacred bodies we have (and often chose to chop up, plump, and “fix”)

Breast Implant Illness (@breast_implant_illness)

Credit to from @ohsoulnatural - Let's talk about breast implants and how terrible it is for our body.

How society has made it okay to disform our beautiful natural bodies. You are beautiful the way you are. You do not need to change a thing! One breast will always be larger than the other that's okay! Do you feel they sag? Try some exercises and learn to love em. They Are beautiful as they are just like you. I promise 💜😙 Breast implants are quite a common trend but although it may seem great to increase the size of your bust it may cause many more problems and complications in the long run. The first silicone breast implant came out in 1962. Their popularity didn’t grow until the 1980’s, but woman claimed there was a link to raptured implants and diseases such as lupus, arthritis, and fibromyalgia. By 1992 the FDA restricted the use of silicone breast implants. Over 450,000 women sued Don Corning because of leaking breast implants and although he did not admit it was due to the implant they still paid out victims (over $3.2 billion to settle). By 2006 silicone breast implants were back in the market. The FDA claimed: “Studies to date no not indicate that silicone gel-filled breast implants cause breast cancer, reproductive problems, or connective tissue disease… however, no study has been large enough or long enough to completely rule out these and other rare complications.” All implants break, the problem is not knowing how many years until that occurs. Overtime studies have shown silicone implants can last up to 12 years although some have known to rupture within the first months and others have lasted up to 15 years. The likelihood the breast implants will rapture increase every year. A study conducted by the FDA showed that Silicone-7 migrated outside of the breast in 21% of woman, who were unaware it had happened.
What about saline implants? They are supposed to be safer and can rapture right?  Well saline implants are filled with salt water solution. If the valve used to fill the implant is damaged then it can cause serious bacterial and fungal growth

BII PRE-explant story Repost @the_real_bella1 - 2016 - 2017 - 2018 > picture of me today
I have no makeup on in either of these pictures- ( well may the first one I have very little) I was afraid to go public with today’s picture..... but after thinking about it, I decided to show everyone what BII does to your body, it changes your face, the whites of my eyes are not white, your skin is not glowing, my eyes are hollow.... plus what it has done to my body inside with all these toxins that its attacking... mentally it has stolen the shell of me slowly over the years and I had no idea until I looked at all my pictures over these last 3 years...
I don’t even know who I am when I look in the mirror... It progressed so quickly over the last 2-3 months and making me weak and becoming sicker each day... I just pray after I have my surgery that I can share a successful story and be better and stronger then the person I am today!
I’ll never tell anyone not to get implants, But I will tell them “ if you want to play Russian roulette with your body, go ahead “
I’m learning now that your health is more important then having big boobs...
Over the last year or so my mind was not healthy either, depression started taking over slowly and I tried to hide it behind my fake smiles and fun times with friends..
I’ve always tried to be positive and post positive stuff on Facebook as you all know... but behind closed doors I was living a lie.... I was fighting my depression alone in silence ( only a few close friends knew the truth about my depression and tried so hard to get me out of it ) but my mind had a mind of it’s own and I couldn’t control it...Medicine couldn’t help me ( plus I didn’t want to take medicine - that to me is a quick fix and not reaching to the core of what was really happening to my body and brain )
Breast Plant illness BII is the reason for my downward spiral.... I’m so mad at myself, the world etc ...
I just want to end this status with :
Love yourself the way you are
Don’t worry what anyone thinks of you
Be true to yourself
You have one chance at life
You’re all beautiful just the way you are
F—K what society expects you to look like ..

Breast Implant Illness (@breast_implant_illness)

@Regranned from @glutenfreeocd - It’s Breast Implant Illness Awareness Day. 🌼
What does that mean?, you may be asking yourself as you begin to decide to keep scrolling on by… 🌼
Stop. Wait a moment. Let me ask you a few questions. Do you have breast implants? Do you know someone who does? Are you considering them or know someone who is? 🌼

Breast Implant Illness is a blanket term for the myriad of illnesses that breast implants can cause or contribute to. Take me. My DNA loaded my metaphorical gun—my genetic propensity for autoimmune disease & mental illness. Getting breast implants pulled the trigger on that gun; within two weeks of my surgery I had spiraled into the beginning of a health journey that would take me nearly 10 years to even begin to understand. I was thrown abruptly into mental illness & a year later was diagnosed with autoimmune thyroid disease [two conditions that are highly related]. To say my life has never been the same is a drastic understatement. 🌼

Here’s the basic facts: Implants are a foreign body that our own bodies perceive as a threat. Our immune systems begin to attack them from the moment they’re placed, forming a protective capsule in an attempt to keep us from harm. Implants contain chemicals that cause hormonal, neurological, & immune system dysfunction. Implants, whether silicone or saline, are not safe. 🌼
I’ve talked about my reasons for getting [& removing] implants before. If you have them or want them, I’m not here to judge you. But learn & understand the facts before you get them. I didn’t have that luxury because doctors & the government claim they are safe. 🌼

Visit our FB group for more info & support. Search for Breast Implant Illness & Healing by Nicole. 🌼

It’s been nearly a year since I removed my own implants & I’ll be writing a follow-up blog post soon. Sign up for my newsletter via the link in my profile to be notified when it’s up. 🌼

I definitely have came a long way, but I have had some set backs too. I have more healing to do. Especially with my gut & some autoimmune symptoms.
