How could something as awesome as Cayenne Pepper be medicinal?! Just like many of the culinary herbs we eat, Cayenne Pepper has multiple methods of use and tons of benefits. Herbalists love Cayenne for this reason, as it’s easy to incorporate into diet, as well as its many other applications.
From gas to toothaches, Cayenne serves a wide range of ailments due to its high content in vitamin C & vitamin A. (369 milligrams of vitamin C per 3.5 ounces, to be exact). When used in healthy amounts, Cayenne has a soothing & restorative effect on the digestive system. In the book “A Modern Herbal” they list Cayenne “for purging the system of bad humors,” & “The Herbal Handbook” calls it “a supreme and harmless internal disinfectant”.
The ever so popular “fire cider” recipe incorporates Cayenne to relieve cold and flu symptoms. It can also be used as a gargle for sore throats and a remedy for painful joints when used in a balm or salve. Many swear by Cayenne as an effective hangover remedy, too (taking away the bad humors?)
Since Cayenne is a stimulant and induces production of saliva & gastric juices, large consumption rates can be dangerous for those with intestinal disorders or ulcers. Even for those who are healthy, excessive Cayenne can cause stomach upset and kidney damage (this would only be the case if you put tobacco sauce on everything all day errywhere or take Cayenne capsules on the reg...normal culinary use is unlikely to cause problems)
Cayenne grows best in full sun with rich soil. Harvest when their color turns uniformly red, and cut at the stems 1/2 inch from the Pepper cap. Once completely dried, they can be ground into a fine pepper using a food processor. ***Be sure to wear protection around the nose and mouth so you don’t inhale the hotness!***

I am in awe ... last week I sent a shipment of my Cayenne Salve to Wines With A Twist. (which they just received Tuesday) These lovely ladies told me that they need another order, and that it’s flying out the door. The amount of people this product is helping especially in my home town is truly amazing. The 60 ml and 120 ml jars are being sent out today, and should arrive Monday.
Thank you to everyone who has purchased this product, shared it with someone else or pointed someone in my direction.
