If you were ever an elementary student in Canada you have probably, at one point or another, learned the story of Terry Fox. You probably even participated in a Terry Fox run or two. You may already know that Terry was only 18 when he was diagnosed with bone cancer and had his right leg amputated. You may even know that despite his own suffering Terry was so overcome by the suffering of the others that he selflessly dedicated his strength and energy to raising money for cancer research and thus was born The Marathon of Hope. What you may not know is that the Terry Fox Foundation is a leading investor in multi-site cancer research nationally.
In the next couple of weeks I'm going to encourage my friends and family to support the Terry Fox Foundation and I'll tell you why.
In 2013 my Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer at the age of 56. In sort of a reverse progression to Terry Fox, his cancer spread throughout his body resulting in his right leg being amputated. We lost him 6 weeks later.
2 years later in 2015 we lost our step-dad, who was the absolute best case for a step parent a kid could ask for, to prostate cancer.
This past April 2017, my maternal and paternal grandfathers both passed away within four days of each other, both from cancer.
It's fairly safe to say that you or someone you know has a similar story. Your contribution to The Terry Fox Foundation and cancer research could be what makes a difference for the next generation. @leppsam and I are very proudly supporting @mikepillitteri and @joepillitteri as pillars of our community going above and beyond to raise funds and awareness for the cause.
I've included the link to donate on behalf of Riverview Cellars Estate Winery. Let's help them reach their goal! (Link in my bio!)
