Cake and chilled oats are the best combo ever
If you've been following me a while you'll already know this is a firm favourite of mine! There's just something about that texture combo
Chilled Oats recipe -
80g quick cook oats
200ml almond milk
200g Greek yogurt
Sweetener, sugar, protein powder, cacao/cocoa powder, coffee, flavouring etc or whatever you fancy for taste and requirements.
1⃣ Add oats, milk and water into a large plastic microwaveable bowl
2⃣ Cook for 6-7mins at full power (800w) checking and stirring half way through.
3⃣ IMPORTANT - Leave to cool slightly (it will thicken as it cools) before adding Greek yogurt and choice of flavourings. Mix well.
4⃣ Chill in the fridge overnight to eat cold the next day
5⃣ Top with your flexible goodies!
points to note
Add your protein powder or choice of flavouring during stage 3⃣
Make sure you allow the oats to cool before adding yogurt, whey and flavourings because it will ruin it if it's too hot
On the flip side of that, leaving them cool for too long will result in the oats going into a stodgy jelly like consistency. If this happens, add a little more water and reheat until it becomes viscous again then carry on from stage 3⃣
Adding whey tends to make the dish runnier.
I use @mornflake superfast oats, Fage or supermarket equivalent low fat Greek yogurt and Almond Breeze unsweetened almond milk.
Any yogurt can be substituted for Greek yogurt.
Fromage frais and cream cheese also work well.
This dish is best served cold after leaving them overnight!
