I had company last week, so this weekend’s grocery haul came a little early. Lucky for me I love grocery shopping!
In this week’s haul: Mustard greens, brussel sprouts, rainbow carrots, asparagus, spinach, avocados, white sweet potatoes, purple sweet potatoes, frozen yuca, blueberries, dragon fruit, bananas, lemons,clementines, kombucha, organic beef bones, uncured bacon, lamb rack, and dandelion root tea.

The last few days my stomach has been hurting pretty badly. I have tried everything under the sun to relieve the pain, but it still comes and goes. Nick knows I have been pretty miserable and he served my usual eggs with sauerkraut. Why sauerkraut? Well, it is a fermented food and these particular foods are helpful in gut health.
“Fermented foods are those that have been through a process of lactofermentation in which natural bacteria feed on the sugar and starch in the food creating lactic acid. This process preserves the food, and creates beneficial enzymes, b-vitamins, Omega-3 fatty acids, and various strains of probiotics.”
If you aren’t already adding these foods into your diet, you should be. Other examples; kombucha, kimchi, pickles, miso, and kefir.
