My mind is wandering and my feet are itching... anyone who has travelled with me knows I am always on the look out for the local fibres and fabrics, natural dyes and the stories behind them wherever I am. Been looking back over images and fabrics from Asia:
1) "Made from five plants collected from the mountains by my grandmother" Lisu woman, Yunnan province, China.
2) Jungle vine or 'piat' used by the Khmu ethnic group to make bags in Laos.
3) Brokpa woman spinning sheep wool using a drop spindle known as a 'Yoekpa', Bhutan.
4) Hemp fibre used by Hmong women to make their traditional clothing, Phongsaly province, Laos.
