I consider myself a strong willed person , who strives to be the best I can be in everything that I do but I will never forget the day I knew I had to make a change in my life. It was the time I was unable to do a pull up in gym class. My "friends" mocked me and belittle me but it empowered me to become a better person.
Look at me now, doing 10 pull-ups like it was nothing.

How to approach holiday eating! 🎄⛄️
#
The last 6 weeks of the year are a time period where most people gain some amount of –largely unwanted – weight. With this in mind, many people resort to one of the two following strategies. They either get in the “screw it” mindset and go on a see-food diet, where they eat anything they can lay their hands on, with the intention to lose it in January or they resort to extreme restriction, promising they won’t put anything remotely delicious in their mouth during the entire holiday season.
#
Both of these strategies are going to have detrimental physical and / or psychological health consequences, so they are likely best to be avoided. Unless you are prepping for a bodybuilding competition, it’s probably not a good idea to actively try losing a lot of weight during the Thanksgiving – Christmas – New Year’s Eve period.
#
Of course, this doesn’t mean going into the other extreme either and completely forgetting about your health and body composition. You can keep these in the back of your mind, while also partaking in festive dinners or parties your friends and familiy might organize, enjoying these events and not feeling guilty about them.
#
When it comes to eating itself, on the days where you are going to attend festive dinners you should definitely not starve yourself beforehand. Earlier in the day you can eat your regular healthy meals, focusing mainly on lean proteins and veggies, maybe a couple pieces of fruit. Then, when the dinner comes, you can freely enjoy some of your favorite foods with your friends and family.
#
Just make sure you choose foods you really like – those you would rate at least a 9 on your own food tastiness scale- and be mindful of the portions you have; don’t eat way past the point where you don’t enjoy the food anymore.
#
This extra food also means you’ll have way more energy that you can put to good use in the gym, so you not only get to enjoy the delicous holiday courses but you also put on some muscle along the way. It's important to stay active and train hard through the holidays! 💪

🍠🥔Sweet potato or white potato? -
Most people think that the better option to go for is sweet potato. You’ll hear people saying, “I’ll go for the sweet potato fries to be healthy”
-
Sweet potatoes have been talked about as ‘super foods’ and said to be better for us because they have a lower glycemic index (how quickly a food converts to glucose)
-
The thing is this score is changed when combined with other foods, which is normally the case. We don’t tend to eat either sweet potatoes or white potatoes on their own. It’s also effected by how the potato is cooked.
-
In actual fact the white potato actually has slightly less calories and if fat loss is your goal then calories are your main concern not the GI of foods.
-
But even so the calorie difference is really quite small.
-
My advice would be to eat whichever you prefer, or even better include both in your diet. But you definitely don’t need to be scared of white potatoes.
-
They are both a great source of carbohydrate, high in fibre and a whole host of beneficial vitamins and minerals.

We all have a story. We’re all the author of our own book. When you look back on your life, do you want someone else to be the main character? Or do you want to be the hero?
.
I’ve been working on developing the mindset that I need to be the hero of my own story. Any time things seem tough, or I need to make a difficult decision, I ask myself “what would a hero do?” “How can I be the hero in this situation?” Heroes take the road less traveled. Heroes make the tough decisions and learn to deal with the consequences of their actions.
.
Next time you’re faced with something that has an “easy way out” option, choose the path that is right. Don’t just choose based on how easy it can be if you ignore what you should do.

This mason jar noodle soup is such an easy lunch if I’m busy or have to eat lunch at work 😊 To prep, I just add ingredients in the jar the night before (I have noodles, peas&carrots 🥕, seasoning and chicken breast), and add boiling water when ready to eat 😀 quick and easy! .
