・・・ @earsasia Quick, Kong needs your help and fast. Please help Hong Kong stand up the to Ivory traders! They have stock piled 7 tonnes of Ivory! Yes, 7 tonnes and if the government phases out the Ivory trade over the next 5 years they are complaining they will need to be compensated. It's an audacious move. They are a minority with a loud complaining voice. Your voice needs to be louder if you love elephants! @elephant_news_network ・・・
THE ELEPHANTS NEED YOUR HELP!!
***Wherever you are in the world, be a voice for the elephants on/before June 5th*** Last year, the Hong Kong Government pledged to place a FULL BAN on ALL ivory products by 2021. Now, however, despite the slowing demand for ivory items, the government is suggesting that the compensation required by ivory traders is too expensive. Instead, that the ban and indeed elephant populations must wait.
But we all know the elephants simply CANNOT wait.
Please, wherever you are in the world, draft a short email to firstname.lastname@example.org saying how ludicrous it is that a dying trade be put before an increasingly endangered animal.
The Global March for Elephants and Rhinos team have suggested adapting the following:
"[A bit about you, your name and country] and that you support the Hong Kong Ivory Ban and urge the Hong Kong Legislative Council to refrain from supporting any action that compensates ivory traders"
