Here’s the process for Morrison’s the rails on the bookcase. I setup a batten that will back up the rails, lay them down in a line, and then clamp them solidly to the bench. Because all of the rails are the same length and thickness, this speeds the process up, but more importantly, give the @festool Domino a larger flat surface on which to register. You can also see the plunge rate – really slow and steady. This guarantees and uniform and true mortise. On some, especially the narrowest rails, this also keeps the tool from skipping or chattering. The parts already have grooves down the edges, so the narrowest parts only barely allow for the loose tenons.
