Madison Bumgarner was going to start for the Giants in their Opening Day next week. Now, not to much.
Today, Friday March 23, Bumgarner sustained a displaced fracture on the pinkie knuckle of his pitching hand when he was hit on a line drive by Whit Merrifield in the third inning of the Giants’ 9-5 loss to the Royals.
Bumgarner will have pins inserted into his hand to stabilize the fracture in the fifth metacarpal. While the club provided no official prognosis, Bumgarner said he was told the pins would remain in his hand for at least four weeks, which means his recovery could be measured in months, not weeks.
These #giants around the walking trails of bukit timah! Descriptions from a #botany#novice , from top left: A thin trunk with a shiny lustre, cluster of #supertalls competing for more light, super curly tree that almost doesn't care, eroding barks, beautifully symmetrical and lastly barks so thick one can only wonder how old this tree might be!
