Mardi Gras may be over, but King Cake isn’t! King’s Cake is the official holiday treat of Mardi Gras.
Bakeries, coffee shops, and grocery stores have abundances of King Cake during the Mardi Gras season. Once the season is over, King Cake is harder to find, but there are some bakeries that sell it year round.

So what is King’s Cake? It is a delicious treat that comes around during Mardi Gras season and is served at parties or gatherings. It tastes somewhat like a cinnamon coffee cake and is glazed over with the colors purple, green, and gold (the official Mardi Gras colors). Inside the cake, there is a plastic baby (king) which is to signify King Jesus. By tradition, whoever gets the slice with the king has to buy the next king cake •
I had a local tell me how when he was in school this tradition was a great way to keep people bringing this treat to school. Then too many kids started choking on the plastic baby, so not as many schools put the king in the cake anymore. •
