Some throwback Tuesday when I got to see Finnish Folk Metal band Ensiferum! These guys from Finland has had quite the musical compositions and directions they compromised. From 2004's Iron and 2007's Victory Songs, Ensiferum were one of the many Folk artists I was heavily surprised in person live when I got to experience their stage presence, energetic musicianship and top notch setlist Ensiferum are considered to be a underrated and sophisticated Finnish Metal artist. To best describe their sound would be taking influences from Nordic, Heroism, Paganism and stylistically crafted approach of Folk Metal with Melodic Death incorporates of overlayed guitars, melody keyboard signatures, frequent acoustical works, Heavy Metal esque choruses and sculptured conceptual stylings of various Power Metal atmospherics. If you were to take Wintersun, Eluveitie, Finntroll and Whispered with a Fanatical, Heroic and Heathen inspired passages Ensiferum is a combination of both Folk, Melodic Death and various Power Metal signatured complexions. Overall they were absolutely phenomenal live. If you're fairly new to this Finnish artist, I recommend checking out albums Iron and Victory Songs to get a glance what stylistic formulas this band contributes.
