Fast forward to present... The past 8 weeks my training partner Justin Firgaira and I have been using Dr. Scott Stevenson's Fortitude Training System. I have loved this training and been able to increase both muscle mass and strength.
The program for me was a harsh reminder of how hungry you need to be with attacking the weights and beating the log book every week in order to improve.
A training program is only as good as the effort you put into it. It's crucial that you really believe in the system too.
Fortitude Training is for advanced athletes, it offers two versions of a high frequency training program. Depending on which frequncy type you select "basic" or "turbo" you hit each body part 3 to 4 times per week.
Each version has 3 volume tiers to choose from based on recovery. These can be adjusted week by week.
The program includes heavy "loading" sets, "pump" sets and a form of cluster training known as "muscle rounds".
Progressive overload is key to all!
Each body part is finished off with your choice of 3 styles of stretching, each having a different purpose.
Deloads know as "intensive cruises" are utilised when needed, usually after around 6 week of a progressive blast.
