Squats were miserable today. Deadlifting and front squatting yesterday made everything move at a snail's pace.
This was set 5 of 5 and my lower back wasn't playing ball.
Still, more weight added from last week.

ROWS + BICEPS + SQUATS

I am going to add in some Bench Press work on T4 (tomorrow) to get rid of this shoulder pain. I have realized it just an imbalance of too much OHP work and BP should solve the problem. I went into this session with a lot of back soreness and I really felt the Rows. At the end, Squats felt great. I haven’t hit any PRs but 170 kgs x 2 reps is me back to my best so I am thrilled. I have noticed that doing rep work after the heavy stuff feels very good – 125 could have gone for many more reps but I thought I’d play conservative. For tomorrow’s Squats I am going to do Front Squats for a couple of sets and then a couple of sets of heavy Anderson Back Squats.

Top singles today were @225kg and @230kg. Sets were 184kg x 5, 204kg x 3, 215kg x 1, 225kg x 1, 230kg x 1, 204kg x 9 (7 fit into the clip and the last two were ugly but it was a rep pb so that was good). 290 for sets of 7, high bar. What I love the most about training high bar squats is that it helps me work on my weaknesses that are overshadowed by the low bar position! Like keeping my weight over the mid foot and pushing evenly with my glutes and my quads out of the hole. As well as giving me a change to practice bracing my core without my belt! I truly believe variation is the key to adding to your squat total. Because at the end of the day there is not one specific movement that helps target everything you need to build a big squat! 🙃🙃

Squats! Only thing I can do, tried to bench but i could barely hold the bar. Upto 160kg for a pause, then 2x3 with 130kg, squatting bare knee'd feels better than I thought it would.

Progress! I've been working on improving my squat so that one day I can have the national OPEN squat record (now that I'm old). We're squatting naked now too really lock down the proper mechanics! Recently started using a nice cue from @ep.arme to keep the arches in my feet from collapsing in. Knowledge is power.

Hooray for little baby PR’s 😁 I think my heaviest double was 230?? Idk but 235 felt pretty smooth...just wish I could stop making my back look like a 45 degree angle 🧐 But I used my working sets to really focus on keeping me back neutral

Also my last post of me doing high bar squats honestly wasn’t even high bar so I tried again...and had to lower the weight by a lot 💀 Not sure how I ever squatted before learning low bar 🤷🏽‍♀️
