Today, I recieved a very generous gift in the mail from Sephora sent to everyone with a 'Hall of Famer' status on BeautyTalk for their participation and contributions on #BeautyTalk.
They are turning over a new leaf--merging their forums (BeautyTalk), Beauty Boards, & Reviews to launch the Beauty Insider Community. It will have better mobile device capabilities and officially launched today
The gift came in a 'Hall of Famer' emblazoned makeup bag containinf a super cute set of pins that I will proudly display on my vanity and a custom #BiteBeauty lipstick shade appropriately named, 'Hall of Famer.' The box also included a sappy note about this chapter's end and the beginning of a new one, as well as an invitation to the 'Beauty Insider Community' launch event which I will regretfully have to decline because it is in LA and won't be able to make. I had crossed my fingers that a cheap flight would come up and thing would fall into place, but I had to make a very tough decision between a concert later this year and this event. The concert both fortunately and unfortunately won out.
It is a little bittersweet that BeautyTalk will no longer be BeautyTalk as we knew it. I's been a member for over 5 years. From the time when I was a beauty newbie and beauty wasn't a big part of my life umtil now. BeautyTalk was there during a transitionatory period of my life and beauty was a nice temporary distraction.
The most unexpected thing that came out of BeautyTalk is all the friends it's allowed me to make! People often stereotype makeup as being a materialistic and superficial thing or makes someone vain and high maintenace, but to me, beyond artistic expression and a hobby, it's something that brings people together.
Thank you Sephora for the lovely mementos to remember BeautyTalk by and all the friednship that unexpectedly came along.
