Two weeks ago I decided to make a stupid decision and a smart decision. The smart one was to get to my spot super early to catch this perfect color over the art museum, and the dumb one was to walk out onto the rocks to get it. After 30 minutes of shooting the tide rose enough to almost strand me out in the middle of the river. Being 20 degrees out any water that splashed up onto the rocks froze immediately. By the time i retreated and made it back to the road, my exit route was completely under water. Note to self... when standing in the middle of a river, keep an eye on your escape route.
