I came across these US Food Administration guidelines from 1917, and instantly fell in love with them.
Buy it with thought • Cook it with care • Buy local foods • Serve just enough • Use what is left • Don't waste it
I'd like to add my own: eat according to your personal values and morals. If you wouldn't kill a cow, don't pay someone else to do it for you. If you would prefer to pull a potato out of the ground, do that instead.
As I've mentioned in previous posts, I really love the idea of living consciously. I see so many people drifting through their lives without really thinking about the consequences of their actions. I did it for so many years, until I finally decided to take the wheel!
You don't have to eat meal, drink alcohol or work a 9-5 job just because everyone else is doing it. Sounds simple, but it took me over 20 years to realise! Now I live with purpose and intent, and I've never been happier.
