Winter Reads Every year, my library has a winter reading program. Usually, you fill out a bookmark and turn it in when you've read four books. Then you get some little prizes, usually a mug. The past couple years they've given ice scrapers! And this year I got a round lip balm thing, which I haven't tried yet.
Also this year they did Winter Reads Bingo. It was harder than I thought it would be! Swipe to see the whole board. A fun idea! When you turn in your slip or bingo board, you are entered in a drawing. Last year I won a $100 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble!
I really love my library. It is part of a suburban system, Ramsey County Suburban Library, that includes seven branches. I can request items from any of the branches and they'll be sent to my home branch. Each branch seems to have its own flavor. I can get almost anything!
Even if they don't own it already, I can request they add it to their collection, and sometimes they do. P.S. I'm finally going to read The Lies of Locke Lamora, since @paperfury loves it so much. Devil's Wedding Ring rec'd by @crimebythebook ! Give her a follow!
Believe me, I know how lucky I am. I know there are many areas around the country that don't have such great library systems. And I know that there are many countries that don't have the system we have here.
All I can say is, if you have a good library system, support it. I love my library, and it loves me back!
My little township library. I live right down the road and I am the library manager here (meaning I am the one employee here although we are connected to a district library). I grew up riding my bike to this little library, checking out Sweet Valley Twins and Fear Street books (now you can deduce my age). Now I order the books, chat with the patrons, run the book club, and help people find the information they need. I couldn't ask for a better life here in this little community or a better job right here down the road from my house. And that's my Lilly in the last picture. She has the day off and decided to join me at the library. #librarianlifeforme#librariesrock#librariesofinstagram#bookstagram
Nelson Mandela spent most of his life campaigning for an end to apartheid in South Africa. After over 20 years in prison, he was released and was able to be the first elected President in post-apartheid, South Africa. #BlackHistoryMonth
