We're holding a charity ping pong tournament at Allpress Espresso Roastery & Cafe in Dalston on Fri 8th Sep from 7pm, and you should definitely be there. It will be THE sporting event of the season: think Wimbledon meets the Tour de France meets the Lions Tour meets the Open - but with slightly fiercer competition.
The event is being held to raise money for two hospitals: Great Ormond St Hosp (GOSH) in London, to buy a new children's ventilator, and Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital in Southern Gujrat, India, which treats babies from the poorest communities at no cost.
The funds were set up by two couples - @emilysarahwise & @peteshaw82 and Sonali & Harry Boyle - whose babies tragically lost their lives shortly after they were born, from different causes. Rahul Boyle died in Nov 2015, just 12 days old, and James Shaw died in Oct 2016, just five weeks old, on Rahul's first birthday.
These astonishingly brave & dedicated people have already raised a remarkable £150k between them, but are hoping to get past the £200k mark with a little more help. More about their stories can be found here:
Further info & ticket details to follow, but please save the date if you can. There will be lots of exciting things alongside ping pong to entertain you - including all-you-can-eat sausages. How can you say no?
