Went for my first bivvy last night alone to try it out, near the town but far enough away to feel isolated. The temperature was about 2 degrees Celsius and dry when I went out. Where I went I had no access to any wood for a fire so I took wood with me for a fire and I managed to get my first fire going with using only a fire steel, delighted! Cooked ostrich steaks, mushroom rice and red spicy kidney beans along with a black coffee, brilliant feed!
I was not cold at all last night and had a brilliant sleep. Slept with my clothes on in my bivvy bag, and in the bivvy was my vango self inflating insulating mat, sleeping bag and bag fleece liner. I also put my tarp over the top of me to keep the rain off of me, which was good because the morning was heavy rain! I basically lay in a small gully in a field so the tarp wasnt tight against me. The fire maybe helped a bit as I left it burning all night but I ain't sure, certainly made me appreciate my dinner though as I used it to cook on.
As parents/adults... we may lack the motivation needed to make changes and improvements in our lives. The OLDER we get, the more “set in our ways” we become, and less likely to take risks. Well, if taking chances for yourself is not motivating enough, find someone else to be motivated FOR! My desire to give my children a life of many unforgettable memories, enriched culture, world experiences, and smiles to last a lifetime is ONE of my biggest secret weapons of motivation! My daughter @morganryan98 absolutely LOVES theater, broadway shows, and musicals. Hamilton has been her biggest craze as of late, and the ability to treat her to a 2nd row showing for Christmas is very rewarding. I’m not here for a “coolest dad” mug... I’m hoping that the girls secretly say that to their friends on their own! Love my kids! #findyourmotivation#motivation#doitforyourkids#makememories#hamilton#hamiltonLA#pantages#pantagestheatre
