Facial cleansers are one of the most overlooked part of a skincare regimen but one of the most important components. Cleaners are essential to remove dirt, makeup, and toxins from the skin. Using them provides a clean surface for moisturizers to be applied on for maximal efficacy. One of problems I had with most cleansers is that they contained harsh soaps or alcohols that over-stripped the skin of essential protective oils. When patients tell me they have sensitive skin or can't use makeup or different moisturizers, I always ask them about their cleanser since it is usually the source of the problem. I personally have sensitive skin as well as large pores which is why I developed the MDGLAM deep pore cleanser to be effective yet hydrating. I also added antioxidants to neutralize toxins as well as many hydrating agents so that the skin feels clean and soft after use. If you have trouble with your pores or skin sensitivity I highly recommend you try my MDGLAM deep pore foaming cleanser with the rest of the MDGLAM line. #mdglam

When I started modeling as a teen in the early nineties, being super skinny was in. I remember being told by my agent that I had too many muscles, looked too athletic, and to stop working out. Being dictated how to look and what the norm was of course created a certain level of insecurity at that age and made me always question the way I looked. I felt like I never truly enjoyed going to the beach or to the pool in a bikini. Over the last few years, being athletic has become more popular, and being skinny has been replaced by having more curves. So here is my revenge to the fashion industry and all body shamers and dictators of body types. Now at 40, I never loved my body more and I just wished I realized that earlier and didn't give as much power to those who were judging me as I did. One thing I realized is that we should all just stop worrying about the trends and embrace our individual bodies for who we are, each beautiful in our own way. Having inner confidence radiates timeless beauty through all of us. #mdglam @surgeon @mdglam

This is well needed after my 17h flight. It's wonderful spending our warm vacation days at the pool but take these special precautions to keep the pool from ruining your skin and hair. Chlorine from the pool can dry out your skin and hair and for some people, cause irritation. To protect your hair, wet your hair first or treat it with a little bit of conditioner, coconut oil, baby oil, or any oil based serums before getting in the pool. For you skin and hair, rinse off immediately and thoroughly after you finish swimming to remove all the chlorine. If you are particularly sensitive to chlorine there are swimmers soaps and shampoos that can neutralize the chlorine. After rinsing, moisturize your skin well with heavy moisturizers with antioxidants like vitamin C, A, and E. Dr. Cat #mdglam #dubai #skincare @beautybydrcat

Found this photo from a few years back (I won't tell you what year lol) and while looking through them I can't help but noticing that thankfully, I've been able to preserve the appearance of my skin. Skin aging and exposure is very unforgiving - once the facial skin gets sun damaged, wrinkled, hyperpigmented and dry, it's very difficult to recover. Prevention is key when it comes to skin. Here are 6 simple and honest skin and beauty tips on the go that will help you slow down the aging process of your skin and keep your skin flawless for many years to come:
1. Wash your face morning and evening with warm water.
2. Use moisturizer daily
3. Drink plenty of water
4. Eat foods heavy in antioxidants
5. Start #Botox early before you start getting wrinkles to prevent them from forming
6. Be careful with the sun exposure. At least try to avoid being in the sun between noon and 3pm when the sun is the strongest. Always wear sunscreen and sunblock and don't forget to re-apply.
As far the skincare goes I'm confident to say that my own line @mdglam is superior in quality and feeling to anything else I have ever tried and I have been an avid skincare user since I can remember. -Dr. Cat

#Inspirational @Regrann from @beautybydrcat - I believe that ambition, determination, perseverance, and hard work are some of the essentials to success. I am blessed to be where I am now with my career and my life but I also think it is important for people to remember that success does not come overnight, nor does it come easy and I, like everyone else, have had to struggle and fight. It took an enormous amount of sacrifice, studying, and always doing extra to go above and beyond to get a perfect SAT score, then to get into and graduate from Harvard, then medical school at UCLA, and then two competitive surgery residencies (16 years total). Just like anyone else, I had moments along the way where I felt tired, discouraged, frustrated, or that the finish line felt too far. Maybe it was during that all-nighter trying to finish a paper, maybe it was that organic chemistry exam that was extra challenging, maybe it was spending Saturday night in the anatomy lab dissecting a cadaver, maybe it was the 5th page in the middle of the night covering facial and hand trauma in the ER having not slept for 2 days in my surgery residency. Whatever that moment is that is bringing you down, we all have them.
I often get emails and messages from students or young people asking for advice on life or how to become a surgeon. The best advice I can give is to always stay strong and never give up. In those moments when you feel the most tired, the most frustrated, or the most disappointed - dig deep and find the strength to keep pushing ahead. Know that those moments are the ones that define you and your future success. The biggest steps are the hardest to climb but once you do, you have climbed so much higher. If the path towards your dreams were easy, then anyone could achieve them. What will set you apart is your ability to overcome the most challenging moments, and embrace them. Know that you have the strength within you. Ambition, determination, perseverance, and hard work. #mdglam #surgeon #nevergiveup #bosslady
