Thank you @LeonaLewis for being a beautiful soul who unlike many celebrities, actually acts in accordance with your values
Leona eats no #meat or #dairy, finds the mass farming of battery hens to be 'disgusting and cruel', refuses to be styled in #leather, #fur or #wool, and fronts hard-to-stomach campaigns by @PETA (I've shared her #FoieGras campaign on my page in the past)
She was announced last year as brand ambassador for a cruelty-free line of false nails and lashes. She has also set up the Hopefield Animal Sanctuary in Brentwood, Essex. She once turned down a lucrative ONE MILLION POUND deal to open London's Harrods Department Store sale in an anti-fur protest! Respect.
She explained in a recent 2016 interview: "I would go to farms a lot with my mum when I was younger to look at the animals – chickens and pigs – and I began to realise that I was eating those same farm animals I loved to go to feed and to be around all the time. I remember saying to my mum I would not eat it any more. I stopped when I was about six or seven"
"Also I remember walking along Oxford Circus as a child and seeing big posters of animals being tested on. Seeing those images when you’re little is quite traumatic. That is quite a vivid memory"
"I feel passionate about animal welfare and about standing up for animals that don’t have a voice to stand up for themselves. I think as a society, to show compassion to animals is a huge act. It’s important to me to be involved in campaigns that help them"
