Well...I finished the Marine Corps Marathon and for me, that was a goal of mine today. My second goal was to finish by the 5 hour mark, and I missed it by one minute! 😑 per everyone’s advice, I took it easy with the mental preparation to pull out if I needed to. Despite the coughing, stuffy nose, and the 75 degree heat, I felt ok. I took my time and enjoyed the crowd support and the views. I think my favorite part of the race was running through the water sprays that the Arlington Fire Department set up. Running goggles were on and I thought all the men were good looking. Anyways, this was my slowest marathon so far, but I’m glad I stuck with it and finished. β€’

Working on my squat game. Did some back squats, really focused on form and going past 90 degrees. Then some front squats and finished with some overhead squats. All this after some interval running to warm up. Faro Salad with Cucumber, Cherry Tomatoes, Basil, and a Homemade Red Wine Vinaigrette

Ingredients: -4 C veggie broth -2 C faro, uncooked -2 shallots, minced
-2 tbsp olive oil -2 medium cucumbers, diced into 1/2” pieces
-1-2 pints of cherry tomatoes, halved -1 large handful of basil, julienned -1/4 C red wine vinegar
-2 tbsp olive oil

Heat 2 tbsp olive oil over medium heat. Add shallots and cook until translucent (2-3 minutes). Add faro and cook for 30 seconds, stirring continuously. Add veggie broth, bring to boil, reduce heat, and simmer covered for 20-25 minutes until liquid has evaporated and faro is soft. Remove from heat and cool.

In a small bowl, whisk red wine vinegar with 2 tbsp olive oil. Pour over faro once it has cooled. Add cucumber, tomatoes, and basil. Mix and chill in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

So test week began today.
Not one but two Pb's:
200kg βœ”οΈ
205kgβœ”οΈ
210kg😝

Really proud of how my squat has progressed, I've increased my 1rm by 25kg in the last 10 month which is nothing short of a miracle for me, but I'm still not happy!

Really felt I had that 210kg in me today but I lost focus. Instead of concentrating on the movement I was too focused on the depth because my 205kg was touch and go but I'm going with the camera was a little high so was definitely in πŸ˜‰. When I got to the bottom of the squat I paused for a moment and in that instant it was gone. However I'm really happy with today and feel that the rest of the week is promising and I'll have that 600kg total I've worked so hard for.

The plan this week was to test all in one day but between working hours and the logistics of holding most of the gums weights for most of a morning was too much.
Lots of lessons learned and will be carried over to the rest of the week and beyond to what I'm aiming for in the next 12 months.
