Comet had the farrier come out and do his hooves and he was so good! Since Comet has white line disease in one of his hooves, the farrier had to cut away the part of the hoof that has been affected by this to help prevent it from growing more and to kill off the bacteria. Comet was such a saint when he was doing this and stood quietly for himthen Comet had his FIRST EVER pair of shoes put on! Hopefully they will just be temporary and will support the hoof while it grows back. Comet was great when having them on but was a bit nervoushe spooked abit at the smoke the first time cos he thought his hoof was on fireand when the farrier was putting the nails in he didn't like it that much but I am very proud of him
May take him for a little ride in the arena just to walk him around and stretch him out as he is in for a few days
So I am not competing on Sugar tomorrow anymore which is a shame but we will still go out and support the team and help them outbut the weather is looking really bad tomorrow so the Team may cancel as none of us would want to travel in high winds as it's just not safe for the horses or us
