A good coach and mentor does not tell you what to do, he/she helps you discover yourself and you tell them what you are going to do then they hold you accountable to those decisions.
There are too many so called coaches who go about dishing instructions and getting angry when you flaunt them. Too many who feel they have been there and therefore understand the path... Dear coach, you have not been there before.... You know why? Because everyone is different therefore everybody's path is uniquely different, your job is not to keeping telling them what 'you know' their path is, your job is to help them discover it by themselves.
The number one attribute of a great coach is being a good listener.
A good mentor/coach does not use the mentee/student to the point where they have no time for their own improvement. That's not a mentor, that's a vampire
A good mentee/student does not collect from the mentor/coach only. He /she also adds value to the person's life. A mentee who's mindset is constantly on what he/she can benefit is not a mentee, that's a parasite.
