The Sound View Greenport is located less than 100 miles outside of NYC on the North Fork of Long Island. Our team traveled out to the Sound View for a "retreat", where they have a fleet of custom maroon Coast bicycles. Spending most of our relaxing trip on their bicycles, we took in the beautiful town of Greenport that is complete with boutique wineries, restaurants with fresh caught local seafood, and a private beach at the Sound View. Head to the link in bio to watch the video of our trip and to learn more about the Sound View. @soundviewgreenport
Southold Town Beach is one of the most striking examples of the power of erosion that we see on the Sound. The victim of powerful winter storms, the 100-foot beach had eroded to just a few feet of sand extending beyond the parking lot. Last year the authorities started to put work on refortifying the beach, but with the blizzard we faced earlier this year, all progress was destroyed. In fact, there was enough erosion from that storm that almost 7 feet of the beach's parking lot collapsed and, where it used to be possible to take a small step down onto the sand from the parking lot, there is now about a 3-foot drop. Sand is being brought in now and the town is working on a more permanent solution.

This week’s #nofofeature is the beautiful barn at Kontokosta Winery.
Kontokosta is the north fork’s only water front winery sitting on 62 acres of #nofo land. This stunning structure with the giant red door and a thousand windows is the tasting room at this family owned winery that’s perched atop sweeping bluffs over looking the Long Island sound.
