PRECAT NITROCELLUOSE!! let me just say that again, this is done with a ONE PART NITRO. Ive always always used uethanes but it's ease of use and availability were factors in me wanting to try and use it in a flake finish. The obvious drawbacks of nitro still mean it isn't practical in a lot of scenarios (lack of UV protection, lack of protection in general, yellowing, generally low builds) but really it served it's purpose here. I'm curious as to what clear was utilised for the first metal flake finishs on guitars, I've got a suspicion it was a similar one part nitro but I've yet to do my homework and find out. I thought I'd run into clarity issues as well but so far the HOK flakes shine no problem! Still gotta flowcoat the filter retainers before they're done!
