What was a writing assignment from @abiqphoto about "my story", turned into me spending several hours this morning pouring over, thinking, reflecting and putting to paper how my parent's deaths have shaped me as a photographer.
My god do I miss them. But what a profound impact they both have had on me in the time we had together; even if it was not nearly long enough. Both their diagnoses made me not only aware of their mortality, but my own... And gave me the chance to figure out how to translate that into art; into creating, into preserving memories and tiny little moments for myself and others, so that when I look back on the photographs I take, I can be right there in an instant--not just seeing but feeling it all over again.
