in the middle of writing last night i stopped as the sun set to take photos bc the lighting was so good
this photo resonates so much with me rn. finishing this phd & getting resettled in toronto has been isolating at times. there has been a balance of lightness & darkness. as weird as it sounds, plants & nature have been essential in grounding me.
Snowy mornings in the six. I'm headed to my hometown in NB tomorrow to see my family for the holidays, and I am so excited-- I may not be as active here over those few days, so bear with me if I'm not as quick to respond. My mama thanks you in advance
This is Hawthorn showing off with its beautiful rich red berries. .
Apart from looking lovely and festive (although in December its more of a thorny affair!), Hawthorn has some great evidence behind it in terms of lots of health benefits including helping with hypertension.
My husband was told he had with prehypertensio two years ago and he initially went down the Beta blockers route. He reacted badly with dizziness and headaches and so we investigated other ways to help. One of those was taking a Hawthorn supplement. .
He now has normal blood pressure and we were so pleased that a few lifestyle changes along with this supplement could help things before they got out of hand. .
If you’d like literature links showing research behind what this lovely plant can do then let me know!
