There shall come to pass
A time when the world awakens
And all the barren tree limbs
Wrapped in lifeless dormancy
Explode in leaf and flower
As the prophecies of Spring
Show themselves to be true!
Icebound lakes and creeks
Are swept away by sunlight's hand
Where day now lingers well into night
Fleshing out the woodlands in verdant green
Decorated with songs of returning warblers
Such a flourish will Nature exude
One might be forgiven
For asking the silly question
"Did winter ever really exist?"
