#tbt#vzla#ccs#city#people#avila#landscape#protest#autopista#oldtime
I was honored to be present to welcome & share space with the dope ass black & brown souls that marched 95+ miles from San Francisco to Sacramento to protest police shootings in their city & the lack of accountability from those individuals paid (by the people, mind you) to protect & serve (same narrative, different location). I can only imagine the shit they endured on their journey but they mf made it much respect!
Because I choose equality. I choose solidarity. Immigrants are why I rise. They are why I am here today. They are the reason I am able to persevere against the odds stacked against me. Immigrants have made me who I am today and I rise for those who cannot. I rise. #peaceandJustice#YouthArtsCollective
Today, white nationalist Richard Spencer made an appearance in my community to speak about white supremacy. The city of Gainesville did not give him a warm welcome and drowned out his speech. University of Florida staff, students, residents, neighbors, friends and families united with love. Besides a Nazi supporter who was punched in the face, there was no major violence. People protested. People chanted. People shut down the hate. It was a great reminder of how lucky I am to be part of such a progressive society. A big thank you to those who protested and stood up for the LGBTQ, blacks, Latinos, etc. inside and outside of that auditorium today. Spencer lost. Love won. #GoHomeSpencer

Obama stumps for Phil Murphy in New Jersey #vote
Former President Barack Obama hit the campaign trail Thursday for Phil Murphy, the Democratic nominee for governor in New Jersey, marking his first campaign appearance since leaving office in January.
Obama spoke at the invite-only canvas kickoff with grassroots supporters in an attempt to help propel Murphy into the seat currently held by New Jersey's Republican Gov. Chris Christie. Obama, who has kept a low profile in recent months with the exception of occasional statements and events, also campaigned for Ralph Northam, Democrats' pick for Virginia governor, Thursday afternoon.
PRESIDENTIAL PUSH: In his first post-White House campaign trail appearance - for the Democratic gubernatorial candidate in New Jersey - former President @barackobama told audience members they can't complain if they don't vote. "You can't take this election or any election for granted," Obama said. "I don't know if y'all noticed that." #politics#democrats#philmurphy#resist#protest #campaign#newjersey#nj#obama#barackobama#impeachtrump
