My favorite picture of 2017 pa buck, really shows the frame. I hunt 140”+bucks My choice I don’t judge other people’s choice s. In this stage of my life eating my tag no big deal . I want mature bucks doesn’t mean I won’t shoot 135” buck but I want 140” plus it’s more about the hunt and the challenge #pamountains#publicland
My friend Trevor and I were hiking around the forests of our public lands last weekend and came across this dead standing tree. It was rotted in the middle for a good 20 feet up in the trunk. It amazed me that this stays standing and some heathy trees blow down in wind storms, and that it's all a healthy part of a fully functional old growth forest. Being out in Nature is one cool place to be.

A photographic scavenger study using a camera trap a couple of winters ago surprised me with the dominance of magpies. Working with #rockymountainarsenal , I set up the camera in December and kept it in place for over 2 months, expecting to see lots of bald eagles. Thousands of images revealed that magpies completely dominated the carcass, except when coyotes visited - they would hang back to wait their turn. I never knew why the magpies in this frame took flight until I opened the image for this post to see coyote whiskers peeking out at the back end of the bison. The black-billed magpie is an intelligent native corvid and omnivore who will pick ticks from the backs of large mammals. Nature is neat. Protect prairie. #magpie#scavenger#bison#publicland#ourpubliclands#ilcp_photographers#prairie#plattebasintimelapse#urbanwildlife#trlcam

The ladies can be pretty too. Gorgeous hen woodie! Only duck seen that morning, until I started loading decoys of course. Ducks seem to have a 6th sense... "he's loading up and leaving, lets let him know hes a pansy and make him rethink all his life decisions"... Well played quackers, well played.
