It seems crazy that you could provide such excellent service, being there to help your clients in such a personal way when they need you most – and that within just months they could forget all about you... and end up becoming your competitor’snew client when it comes time to sell.

It’s not that they’re lacking in loyalty, necessarily. It’s not that they did’t appreciate you and the service you provide.
Unless you’re actively and continuously building that bond, it’s probably not strong enough to keep your clients YOUR clients.
