From Lauren Bacalls autobiography 'By Myself and Then Some' (2005)
The pictures I have in my head from those early years are very clear to me : running down Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills, arms held wide, green three-quarters coat flying, toward Bogie waiting for me on the corner with James Gleason at four in the morning; Bogie walking up Highway 101 in espadrilles, huge sunflower in jacket lapel at six in the morning as I found him in my Plymouth - the headiest romance imaginable. The varies photos taken on the set of To Have and Have Not and The Big Sleep on the Warner Bros. Lot - I know it's me - so young - but I can hardly believe it. The twenty-five-year difference between us is never visible. We just looked right together - always. Maybe I looked older and he looked younger. Whatever it was, it was definitely the match made in heaven.
Today we celebrate 9 years of marriage. Whaaaaa??? We are not even 30!!! I would leave a huge sappy message but my hubby doesn’t have social media so I have to be “old timey” and and tell him why and how much I love this man to his face (tbh I rather do that anyway ) But I also want to make a post because, ya know, #millenials and #insta! So I’ll get back to laying in bed, because today marriage is about resting since we both got the flu and have missed work since Tuesday. ♀️
Yikes, what a messy, patient, impatient, crazy and not boring at all adventure it has been. There’s always something going on, and we are always making crazy decisions, dreaming up crazy dreams and best of all, achieving them together.
So with that I say, Bye bye insta, talk to you soon, I’m going back to resting with the hubs and making chicken noodle soup for the 4th time this week. #marriage#reallifecouple#happyanniversarymylove
