Optimystic Bikers against Abuse supports the Red My Lips campaign for the month of April as an opportunity to educate and advocate around the issues of sexual assault and rape culture.
We hope you will join us and enter the debate! #redmylips#365BtheChange
April is nearing which means it’s time to start breaking out the red lipstick! .
For those of you that don’t know, April is #sexualassaultawarenessmonth and I am partnering with @redmylipsorg for the third year in a row. This organization has created a movement of wearing red lipstick to stand in solidarity with ALL survivors, to say no one deserves to be assaulted regardless of what they’re wearing, drinking, etc. .
Next month I will be posting facts and resources, hosting events, fundraising, and sharing some of my own story as well, and I would be honored for you to come alongside of me and participate however you feel comfortable. Feel free to DM me, or swipe for more info! .
If you've participated in Red My Lips before, you're familiar with this sight. As we approach our 6th annual campaign, here are some important things to keep in mind: .
--We use #redlipstick to #startconversations about #rapemyths and #victimblaming, NOT as a reference to women as victims. People of ALL genders can experience #sexualviolence.
--Not all those who participate in #April have been victims, but ALL stand in #solidarity with them.
--Throughout the month, remember that NOTHING is more important than #selfcare. Never feel the need to start or continue a #conversation that is too difficult or triggering. And feel free to give your lips a break when/if you need.
--PLEASE use the hashtag #ok2share on ALL you pics that you would be comfortable with us or others sharing because #onlyyesmeansyes.
--Can't or don't want to wear lipstick? NO PROBLEM! We encourage supporters to get creative.
On that note, what are some of your favorite #redlip alternatives that you've used or seen during past campaigns? Comment below and let us know!
The world turns on when women are turned on. We do it with our femininity, intelligence, confidence, bravery, presence, beauty, softness, vulnerability, streets smarts, sexuality, playfulness, ability to multitask— all the while, fully clothed. #nowthatssexy
I am a happy feminist from #Texas who does not hate men, who wants to have a tight body, wear cute bikinis, likes to wear lipgloss and high heels for herself and not for men. I also want to close the pay gap, help more women become CEOs of Fortune 500 companies and speak up against harassment for myself and sisters in the workplace I am learning so much on my current project at @badgerandwinters about what equality for all humans really looks like and surprised at how little I’ve questioned traditional gender roles through out my life.
