Good morning ☀️ Today is the last day I'm posting about Diabetes. It has been a whole month and I truly hope I've passed you with useful info. .
Nephropathy (kidney disease): although there are no current exercise restrictions for diabetics with nephropathy, they are advised to perform moderate intensity activity as this is more sustainable. Other recommendations include: ❗️ Avoiding activities that involve a sustained elevation in blood pressure;
❗️ Performing low intensity aerobic and resistance exercise;
❗️ Ensuring diabetics remain well hydrated.

Peripheral vascular disease: for diabetics with peripheral vascular disease or peripheral arterial disease it is recommended that they perform moderate intensity (40% to less than 60% VO2R or HRR) aerobic exercise. They may need to start with 10-minute bouts to accumulate the recommended duration. Weight bearing aerobic exercise, such as walking, and non-weight bearing activity, such as arm ergometry is recommended. Cycling may be used as a warm-up but this should not be the primary mode of exercise. They should also perform resistance training. Other recommendations include: ❗️ Ensuring appropriate foot wear is worn;
❗️ Ensuring good foot care: that is, inspect them regularly, keep clean and avoid trauma;
❗️ Avoiding exercises that induce the Valsalva manoeuvre – no breath holding and avoid over gripping equipment.
