This is what a rest day looks like.. one of many ways .. I’ve said it before but I know some of you think #Nodaysoff is really cool and rest days are for the weak, but you’re actually not letting your body return to its resting state to recover. That includes your muscles, your HR, your hormones, I.e. like the stress hormone cortisol, to name a few. If you have a day to give up to rest and recover, consider planning your week of training around it. I promise even two or three rest days will leave you with more energy and better athletic performance, give it a shot this week.
I know this is funny coming from the person that trains like 16+ per week but if I could, I’d definitely take two rest days .. I’d spend it eating pancakes and sleeping
One of the most special things about our bodies is it is ours! No one can ever take it from us and no one can have it... Nor will there be anyone in this entire world that will ever know it better than us! I bring this up because I #believe a lot of us (even myself) at times tend to lose sight of this, but when it comes to our #health and fitness, we take advantage of it and make one of the biggest mistakes... Which is to not LISTEN TO OUR BODIES!
This is one of the most common reasons for "over training." Some of us will ignore the signs and at times symptoms that our bodies need a break or rest, which is why rest days are crucial in any #fitness programming. This also goes for the other side of things, and why I bring it up today. #Sunday has now become my main day for #activerecovery or my #restday from the #gym or any sort of lifting, but today I decided to go anyways... And I chose to because my body told me it didn't need a break. I felt great and didn't feel as though I needed to take a rest day. The difference, although, is I didn't start my #workout rotation and #train for my push day, but instead went and did some weak point and extra training... For me, this was back, abs and calves, and consisted of 3 sets of 3 exercises for each #muscle group hitting 15-20 reps for each and every set.
Now this also doesn't mean I neglected taking advantage of my active #recovery day... In addition, I took some time for the sauna, did a #postworkout swim and relaxed in the hot tub as well as went to the chiropractor for an adjustment and got treatment done from my massage therapist! Again, it is so important to listen to your body, but it is even MORE important to take care of it... Remember it is yours and no one else's, but it is also the only one we have! So stay happy, stay #healthy and live your life to the fittest! #takecareofyourbody#fitlife#sundayfunday#livelovelift#workhard#trainsmarter#fitnesslifestyle
I woke up this morning with body aches and CRAVING water . For my body, that means one thing: I’m coming down with something mean . My usual remedy is to sweat it out, but these kind of aches were rocking me to the bone. So I took a rest day, stay hydrated, and soothed my soul with my teas. Sometimes, we just gotta listen to our bodies. #balance#pursuingbalance#restday#pleasedontbetheflu
Sorry I've been so inactive while on holiday, but that's what getting away is for, right?
Good morning from Koh Samui, Thailand. I've NEVER been on a tropical island vacation like this and let me tell u, it's glorious. Plus, there's all the yummy Thai food
I'm vlogging the trip and I will let u know more when I get back to regularly using my phone.
Have a wonderful day
It's been ONE WHOLE WEEK off of running...my longest no running stretch since May! In addition to some sick kiddos, I've been sick myself, and I'm learning (begrudgingly) to STOP and listen to my body when it's talking to me || I came back from running the @nycmarathon, and fell into some (3 back to back ) quick 5k races...perhaps too quick & too soon, and at first, my knee and ankle asked nicely for a break...but then, when I didn't listen, they got mean about it; OUCH It's been super hard for me to NOT run this week, but I did it, and now, I cannot wait to get back to it!! || I have big goals for 2018, and none of them will be possible if I don't show up healthy. .
