6 wonderful miles! It’s been a long and busy day, trying to clean my house and pack up to leave for family thanksgiving. I’m sad that the hubby has to miss another holiday, but we are use to it. Thank you to all those men and women who work to keep us safe while we celebrate and gather safely with our families. You are appreciated and missed terribly.

Another late workout but it’s done. I have not been doing well with getting up in the mornings. I really hate missing morning workouts because It’s so easy to talk yourself out of the workout as the day goes on...and things happen that distract you from what needs to get done. But it’s my choice to not get up so no matter what it takes, I’m getting it done. It is a bit easier since I’m not running as much..but it’s going to catch up with me eventually. I just really struggle with early “winter” wake ups...anyone else struggle with getting up early during winter?
No run or walk today. My legs are really tired from leg day and running yesterday so they are getting a rest. Hope everyone had an awesome Tuesday!!!!

So begins Week 22 of my training cycle! My races will be here in 6 short weeks. I’ve survived Hell’s kitchen, aka Louisiana in the summer; the humidity of second summer, because who has ever really heard of Fall around here; and the plague at the first sign of cooler temps!

Now I’m about to finish training strong so I can check box the #dopeychallenge2018 in January! Excited that it’s almost over!

I’ve been thinking a lot today about the difference between being thankful and grateful. Showing thanks, to me, means that you are conscious of another’s actions. Sometimes too often, “thanks” is said as more of an automatic response. Being grateful tho, is different. It means that something or someone has had an impact on you. So much so that there’s been a time of reflection, a time of perspective and purposeful appreciation. There definitely is a place for both words. And this week, I’m hoping to express them as much as possible. 🙏🏼

The kids and I are out of school/work all week so we headed out for an adventure today. We found the starting line for the California International Marathon and drove the entire course. I’ve driven these roads many times but never paid attention to the hills before. It is definitely not a flat course, but the “gentle rollers” don’t seem too bad. (Except for the hill around Mile 11, that one seems atrocious). But we found a Taco Bell on the course in case I have the urge for a 5 Layer Burrito along the way! We then popped into Fleet Feet Sacramento to pick up a few goodies for race day including some @honeystinger gels and a new bracelet. I’ve been wanting a @momentumjewelry wrap for awhile and was so happy to find them at Fleet Feet! It is a perfect reminder for me to be awesome on race day, which I am even more excited about now! It was a fun afternoon with kids who managed to not fight for an entire three hours!!

Puede que hasta lo hayas intentado con la carrera a pie ya, ¿no dio resultado o no sabías cómo hacerlo y qué progresión seguir? Prueba de nuevo o dale la primera oportunidad al running.

Sigue nuestras pautas y verás cómo te sacas unos kilos de encima casi sin darte cuenta. Sólo te pedimos un poco de confianza y que no dejes de moverte. En muchos casos hay corredores que con un solo cambio o siguiendo alguna de las claves que os contamos lo han conseguido. ¿Puede ser tu caso?

Para quemar grasa al máximo, lo importante es que tu cuerpo no se acostumbre al mismo entrenamiento. Un error habitual entre este tipo de corredores anti-kilos es hacer siempre lo mismo: la misma distancia, el mismo recorrido y al mismo ritmo. Esto para empezar es perfecto, pues te da seguridad, pero luego hay que dar un paso más adelante.

Cuando ya llevas más de un mes y medio corriendo al menos tres veces a la semana, puedes empezar a jugar con los ritmos. Lo ideal es alternar rodajes largos y lentos con otros más vivos y cortos o que incluyan cambios de ritmo. En los primeros estás más tiempo en la zona quemagrasa, que es aquella en la que el cuerpo consume fundamentalmente grasas. Esto sucede a ritmos suaves y al pasar de los 35 minutos de carrera. Pero el cuerpo se adapta a todo, se hace más eficiente, y a igual entrenamiento consume menos calorías, por eso es necesario realizar rodajes más vivos y cortos. Estos queman muchas más calorías, por lo que pierdes más peso.

Por tanto, en una semana deberías entrenar como mucho tres días, ya que es un error, y gordo, esclavizarte a correr todos los días. Lo único que te va a proporcionar es agotamiento prematuro y lesiones; y acabarías corriendo como si fueras andando. Por eso hay que correr lo justo y añadir más volumen de entrenamiento con un cuarto día de caminar, bicicleta, natación o patines. Estarás mejorando tu condición cardiovascular y quemando calorías extra pero sin sobrecargar tendones ni articulaciones
