K. I’ve been properly fed back to life, so here goes:

Competed as a 56kg for the first time; weighed in at 55.4kg after a successful mini cut (thanks to strep throat last week and some water manipulation this weekβ€” after nursing myself back to health, of course). I went 7/9 - did not hit a squat PR, beat my last meet bench, and finally FINALLY pulled 314, totaling 656 and taking first in the 56 open class. Best of all, I had a damn good time competing with mah buds, and meeting some new STRONK friends. β €
HUGE thanks to @twrva for another awesome and successful training cycle; @gabstrength for running my diet/water cut/warm up scheme, and pretty much like, everything and then some and then more; @powermanepl because: @powermanepl; @jvill1992, @the_clairest, @phstauffer, @mlp389 for coming out to support; @uspa_east and @project_sixkiller for putting on yet another fantastic meet; and most of all, @nikoleondis for all that he’s done- from being the best hypeman, to gauging my lifts, to handling me AND a few other folks today, and basically, for all that you’ve done to make my life 10000x easier day in, day out, and ESPECIALLY today πŸ’™

**EXTREME PUSHUP**
.
1⃣ Grab two 45lb plates and a bench or flat surface, adjusted to around the same height as the weight plates

2⃣ Grab plates first. Position them as if you were doing regular pushups. As you're balancing your upper body on the plates, carefully position your feet shoulder width on the bench/flat surface and get in pushup position (top)

3⃣ Carefully lower yourself while balancing on the weights until your chest is even with top of the plates or slightly below.

4⃣ Raise back up and repeat the desired number of reps

Revving up to get my running game back. Here’s the kicker. I DO NOT love running. I’d rather be lifting weights, climbing walls or ropes, sweating it out in yoga class, hiking a glorious mountain. Maybe even doing day old dishes. But I’ve got coaxed into a trail @ragnarrelay race in a couple months and need to get in gear, so I’ll be collecting road and trails miles, both day and night until then.

For my lack of running love, I’m actually pretty stoked about doing this BECAUSE it makes me uncomfortable. I always tell myself that if I’m afraid or nervous, I’M DOING IT RIGHT.

.
I know weather will never be perfect. I won’t always feel like it. I know I’ll likely struggle to get the miles in since I’ve never ran that many before.
.
.
But, here’s the magic: Discomfort is HUGE opportunity. That’s where we really grow and come most alive. It’s a spring board, if you let it be. If I get caught up in the complaining or how hard it is, I’ll miss it. Sometimes my thoughts are more eloquent and prayerful. And sometimes, I remind myself, β€œShelly, sh*t makes things grow”. (In my food / farming brain anyway🌱)

Looking forward to the trail time and being a stronger and better me than before. And looking forward to 24-hr camping party. That helps!
