When you love your food, you need to have a lovely dining area too to enjoy it to its full capacity. To create a beautiful dining room, every aspect of the room has to be considered, from the walls to the chairs.
Old-fashioned book ends too cumbersome to handle? Unsightly wires getting in your way? Not anymore! Deskbound since forever, we've figured out a few handy tips and gadjets.
First, get comfortable. Get a right chair, and adjust the monitor to eye-level height. Mr's chair is a back-protect full back office chair, while mine is a kneeling chair that prevents slouching (ask us for details!). Adjust the chair to a height where your elbow forms a 90 degree angle when you place your forearm on the desk. Adjust the height of the monitor. If your desk is not huge, you're probably using a smaller monitor like ours. Raise the monitor to eyel-level by placing it on a monitor shelf. We opted for a wooden one without any drawer so that we could slot our laptop underneath the monitor to save space.
If you have your laptop, monitor, perhaps desk lamp, and handphone charger, you'll have four wires sitting on your desk. Organise them using a cable box. Choose one with good ventilation to prevent your adapter from overheating. We opted for a mid-sized one with opening on the side for easy access to the switches. You can get a similar one at @ikeasingapore.
What about your books and files? Are you still using old-fashioned book ends? We've switched to this asymmetrical book rest (slide to review). It's lower on one end and higher on the other, so the books naturally rest on the lower end. We can now happily remove and replace our books without having to manually reposition our books ends!
So, this is how we keep our desk clutter-free and work-friendly. How do you organise your desk? Comment to share below! Also, let us know if there's anything on your desk that you don't know how to organize. Till tomorrow!

The kitchen features an open concept, but it's partially blocked by the bar counter, in order to hide the main activities inside the cooking zone. The pop of blue enlivens the otherwise neutral palette. (Design by The Design Abode)
