Successfully held an elbow plank for 2 minutes 25 seconds today. I'm sure to a lot of you that's not very impressive but I'm really impressed with myself.
Story time :
So I injured my back at work over the summer and had really, really bad back pain for 3 months. I was going to the chiropractor 3 times a week for months. Then twice a week then once a week and now I just have to go once a month. However, this process was not just my chiropractor cracking my back and popping naproxen 24/7. Especially since pretty fast your general pain medications no longer worked due to tolerance. This was new to me. I had never before not gotten pain relief from medication.
I was super bummed because this meant I couldn't do almost anything at the gym, not only was the pain awful but my health care providers and myself were fearful of re-injury. This was especially hard because exercise is one of my most effective coping mechanisms for stress.
So, after telling my chiropractor about this we discussed ways to strengthen my back. She offered planks.
Since that day, November 14th 2016 I have been planking every day. Every. Single. Day. Not a day has been missed. I record the times and write them down to watch myself grow. I started out at 34 seconds. I've nearly increased that by 5x. #progress#fitness#plank#fit#health#gym#gymrat#muscles#motivation#inspire#inspiration#hopeful#recovery#pootd#followforfollow#likesforlikes#spam#spamforspam#newaccount#confidence#fitgirl#pain#artsy
