My name is Zeb and as you can see I am much older than most of the kids on the website. Older age is seen a lot of times as a negative thing. I am not going to disagree on how old age is hard on the bones, but on a positive note older age means I understand a lot of the ins and outs of life! I am potty trained, crate trained, know to sit for my food, and how to walk on a leash. As you can see I love my naps, but I also enjoy sun bathing and short walks. I would prefer a quiet home without young kids or other dogs. My ideal job would be your gardening partner or your tv companion. I would bond best with someone with a low key lifestyle who is calm and willing to be patient with me. Adoption applications at www.pawsinthecity.org
Not too long ago, I adopted a dog named Daisy. She is a Rottweiler Labrador mix. She is almost completely black and she is the sweetest dog. She is so calm, loving, and friendly you would have never known she had a terrible past.
Daisy was found almost dead next to a dumpster. Yes, half of her tail is missing. Someone cut it off. She also gets really nervous if someone touches her paws. Trying to cut her nails is hard to do because she runs and pulls away.
Today I decided to take Daisy and my other dog Princess for a walk. Princess is also a rescue dog who is part Shiba Inu and part Chow Chow. When I got the harness and leash on Daisy, we realized something pretty quickly. She is 4 years old and has NEVER been on a walk. She acted really confused, uncomfortable, and didn’t understand the point of a leash. I had to pull her out of the house because she didn’t not understand that you are able to walk in a harness. While actually walking her, she didn’t understand that the leash is meant to keep her from wondering off. She got tangled up with Princess and was pulling on me the entire time. You could tell she had no experience whatsoever.
It was nice to give her her very first walk. She got used to it after a little while but she did walk a little funny. I will need to work with her and help her understand the leash. I love this dog

Hi, I'm Sterling but foster mom says I'm platinum! I'm a young (approx. 1.5 years old) tabby and white male - with a cute pink nosey - who has recently discovered the joys of indoor living. What's not to love about delicious, regular meals; clean litter; warm & dry sleeping spots; and window perches? I'm ok with household appliance noises but why is that vacuum soooo loud?
I didn't know much about toys when I was first rescued ("What?!? I'm supposed to run after that?") but now I enjoy my wand toy and scampering down the hallway after my rattle mousies and puff balls. Sometimes I surprise myself at how exuberant I get!
I have excellent litter box habits - I dig, but not to China, then cover. I also love the scratching posts in my foster home and use them regularly.
The best part of indoor living is snuggling next to my foster mom. I purr and reward her with happy paws.
From foster mom: Sterling is a great guy who is past the chewy kitten stage (haven't lost a charging cable or lamp shade to him!) He would probably be ok with a confident, non-dominant cat buddy or an easy going, cat-savvy dog. Fill out an application and come meet him!
